Other than its release date on IMDB, no one knows much about the film adaptation of "Wicked," the Broadway play that portrays the Wicked Witch of the West in a far different light than in "The Wizard of Oz."
Fans of "Wicked" have been playing the casting game since plans for a film were announced over 10 years ago. Many hope that Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel -- who originally starred as Glinda and Elphaba respectively on Broadway -- will reprise their roles on the big screen.
According to Naughty Gossip, however, Angelina Jolie is preparing to play the green-skinned witch.
Apparently Jolie was so inspired by Meryl Streep's performance in 2008's "Mamma Mia!" that she "wants to try doing a musical herself."
“Angie has seen the musical on stage three times with her kids and knows the entire score," a source told the site. “The green witch fascinates her. Playing someone that is misunderstood and assumed to be wicked is something she relates to. She knows she can act the part but the singing scares her which is why she is testing herself with a singing teacher.”
This, of course, is an unconfirmed report since absolutely no official casting announcements have been made. That being said, if producers still plan to release "Wicked" in December 2019, they had better get a move on.
