If you’ve ever watched an episode of TLC’s "Say Yes to the Dress," you’ve heard this phrase time and again: "I want a big, Cinderella ball gown." Or this one: "I’m looking for that princess-type dress." The poofy ball gown may not be the style for every gal, but we can’t deny that a lot of brides-to-be have a very princess-y picture in their head when they go wedding dress shopping, and Disney and Allure Bridals have been paying attention.
This week, Allure stocked their shelves with the Disney Fairy Tale Weddings Collection, which we first heard about back in February with just a few (albeit gorgeous) mock-up sketches to tease us with. The designs are named after the Disney princesses they’re meant to reflect, and include Cinderella, Belle, Ariel, Tiana, Jasmine, Snow White, Aurora, Rapunzel and Pocahontas. (Take note, Allure: We’ll expect Mulan, Moana, Merida, and Anna dresses posthaste.)
Now, though, we have the real thing to gaze in wonder at.
These gowns could have come out super kitschy, a bit tacky and with wayyy too many sequins, given that the Disney princesses were their model. But what resulted from Allure’s designs is classy, chic and oh-so-bridal; not only do the dresses cover a lot of different styles and tastes, but they also cover many a range of budgets.
According to Disney and Allure, the Fairy Tale Weddings Collection can be found in 81 bridal salons across North America and includes gowns between $1,200 and $2,600, while the dresses in the Fairy Tale Weddings Platinum Collection retail for higher -- $3,500 to $9,500. The Platinum Collection will also only be available at Kleinfeld Bridal in New York and Toronto, (because, let’s be honest, Randy Fenoli deserves that commission.)
No worries, though! With the exception of Rapunzel and Pocahontas, both collections contain a gown designed after each of the princesses in the line, so every bride will (hopefully) find a gown within her price range that makes her feel like her favorite Disney princess.
